Nora Bensahel, Ph.D. is a Visiting Professor of Strategic Studies and Senior Fellow at the Merrill Center in the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, D.C. She is a widely published expert on U.S. defense policy, military operations and force structure; coalition and alliance operations; and leader development. Bensahel has held senior positions at the Center for a New American Security and RAND Corporation. She writes the Strategic Outpost column with General Dave Barno.
