Ethiopia on the Brink

November 5, 2021

Episode Notes:

After a year of fighting, the conflict between the Ethiopian government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front has swung decidedly against the government. On Tuesday, with Tigray forces roughly 200 miles from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s prime minister declared a state of emergency and urged residents of the capital to arm themselves. “Dying for Ethiopia is a duty [for] all of us,” he declared.

Joining us to discuss developments in Ethiopia is Cameron Hudson.

Cameron is a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. He previously served as chief of staff in the State Department’s Office of the U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan. He was also director for Africa at the National Security Council.
