The two discussed the rise of Prigozhin from Soviet-era prisoner to post-Cold War catering magnate and his backing of Dmitry Utkin, a mercenary turned leader in the Wagner Group. The conversation explored Wagner's rise in Africa, its deployment in Syria and, ultimately, its decapitation, following an aborted mutiny in 2023.
