In honor of the 101st anniversary of the “Christmas Truce,” here’s a cocktail to share with your family and mark the day when cooler heads prevailed, men joined together in song and revelry, and for just one night transcended the brutality of war.
1 Oz. Jamaican Rum (Jamaica was a British territory, after all)
1 Oz. Underberg
½ Oz. St. Elizabeth’s Allspice Dram
Scant ½ Oz. Raspberry Syrup
2 Dash Orange Bitters
Chill a cocktail glass. Build all ingredients in mixing glass, add ice. Stir until outside of glass is coated with condensation, about 45 seconds. Julep strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with a flamed orange thumb.
Drink in the company of those you hate one day, love the next. Family is perfect.
Cheers from all of us at Molotov Cocktail and War on the Rocks.
