War on the Rocks contributor B.J. Armstrong has been named the recipient of the General Roy S. Geiger Award by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation for his WOTR article, “The Answer to the Amphibious Prayer: Helicopters, the Marine Corps, and Defense Innovation.”  The foundation, whose awards are presented in recognition of “exemplary work in advancing and preserving Marine Corps history,” named Armstrong’s article “the best aviation article published in the previous calendar year.”  (Fittingly, the award with which Armstrong is to be presented is named after a figure who plays a role in the article itself: Lt. Gen. Geiger.)

The award will be presented at an April 25 banquet at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.  If you haven’t yet read the article, it’s well worth your time.  We’re thrilled to have had the opportunity to publish it and offer our sincere congratulations to B.J. for this very well-deserved honor!
