Last week, the Spanish newspaper El País published confidential U.S. and NATO documents that included official responses to Russia’s public demands for security guarantees. To discuss the documents and the role of history in the current crisis between Russia and the West, we’re joined on the Warcast by Jim Goldgeier. Jim is currently a visiting scholar at the Center for International Security and Cooperation, a visiting fellow at Brookings, and a professor at the School of International Service at American University. He is an expert on U.S.-Russian relations and served as director for Russian, Ukrainian, and Eurasian Affairs on the National Security Council staff in 1996.
