Over the last week, Iranian backed militias and U.S. forces have exchanged a series of strikes in Iraq and Syria. This comes amidst continuing and increasingly uncertain negotiations over whether Washington and Tehran will recommit to their 2015 nuclear deal.


Joining us to discuss these incidents and their diplomatic ramifications is Elisa Catalano Ewers. Elisa is an adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security, focusing on the Middle East and U.S. national security. She previously served in both the Bush and Obama administrations, most recently as a director for the Middle East and North Africa on the National Security Council staff.
