Israel-Palestine Crisis

May 14, 2021

Episode Notes:

On May 6, protests began over the planned eviction of Palestinian residents from the Sheik Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem. Amidst ensuing clashes, Israeli police targeted protestors in the Al Aqsa mosque. Hamas responded by firing rockets from the Gaza strip, prompting Israeli airstrikes. Inter-communal rioting in several Israeli cities has intensified the violence. To date, 119 people have been killed in Gaza and eight have died in Israel.

Here to discuss these developments is Khaled Elgindy. Khaled is a senior fellow at the Middle East Institute where he directs MEI’s Program on Palestine and Israeli-Palestinian Affairs. He is also the author of the recent book, Blind Spot: America and the Palestinians, from Balfour to Trump.
