Episode Notes:
Ankit sat down with Jeffrey Michaels, a senior fellow in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London and a senior fellow at the Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals, to discuss the future of U.S. extended deterrence in Europe. Jeff and Ankit discuss former U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks in early February saying he would potentially encourage Russia to attack European NATO allies he deems delinquent, then they get into the Cold War history of extended deterrence. They also talk about the current anxieties in Europe and consider the future of extended deterrence on the continent in a world where the United States is less reliable.
