Episode Notes:
In "The Islamic State Prison Camps in Syria are a Powder Keg," Julie Chernov Hwang and Colin Clarke warned about the urgent risks of keeping Islamic State fighters and — crucially — their children in prisons and camps in Syria. Kerry talks with the authors about the current conditions and the pressing need to repatriate many prisoners and offer a future beyond the Islamic State to the next generation. Julie is an associate professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Goucher College, a senior research fellow at the Soufan Center, and a Harry Frank Guggenheim distinguished scholar. Colin is the director of research at the Soufan Group and a senior research fellow at the Soufan Center.
