On Tuesday, Masoud Pezeshkian was sworn in as Iran’s new President. His inauguration ceremony was overshadowed, however, by the assassination of one the guests, Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh. Here to tell us more is Afshon Ostovar. Afshon is an Associate Professor at the Naval Postgraduate School and a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute. He is also the author of a number of books, most recently Wars of Ambition: The United States, Iran, and the Struggle for the Middle East.
