On Tuesday, insurgents in Southern Thailand attacked government security checkpoints, killing 15 people. The insurgency in Thailand has been ongoing for almost 60 years, with the latest round of violence stepping up in the early 2000’s.  Despite the bloody toll it has taken, this insurgency is often overlooked by Western observers.
