Bryan McGrath on the U.S. Navy’s Collision Inquiries

November 3, 2017

Episode Notes:

Bryan McGrath, a War on the Rocks contributor, Managing Director of the FerryBridge Group, LLC, and the Assistant Director of the Hudson Institute’s Center for American Seapower, talks with Jason about the U.S. Navy’s reports on the collisions that occurred at sea this past summer. The USS Fitzgerald and the USS John S. McCain each collided with civilian ships, resulting in 17 sailors killed, over $500 million in damage, and placed stress on an already over-stretched 7th Fleet. Bryan, a former commander of the USS Bulkeley, discusses the reports, some shortcomings in their findings, and impediments to the implementation the reports’ recommendations.
