John Amble
John is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies at King’s College London, where his research examines the role of local context in shaping the identities of regional militant Islamist groups. A former U.S. Army intelligence officer and veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, John holds a BA from the University of Minnesota and an MA from King’s College London. He writes on terrorism, intelligence, the Middle East, and the military. He is the former managing editor of War on the Rocks.
