The Hoover Institution is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Social Media & Communications Manager position.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Social Media & Communications Manager reports to the Director of Public Affairs of the Hoover Institution and is responsible for promoting the Hoover Institution's mission, its fellows and their public policy research through the Institution's social media platforms. The manager will develop and implement initiative-level digital community strategy for the institution.
CORE DUTIES*:
- Lead digital community-building through social media channels, blogs and the web.
- Develop well-written and visually appealing content to drive results.
- Leverage advertisements on social media platforms.
- Find new and innovative ways to promote the Hoover Institution through social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- Stay abreast of emerging social media platforms and recommend areas in which the Hoover Institution could effectively grow.
- Responsible for additional digital media outreach including bloggers, aggregators, etc.
- Manage development and implementation of digital community strategy for the Hoover Institution; including how to engage customers and fundamentally impact their relationship with constituents.
- Responsible for ownership and management of digital channels and/or the web. Oversee editorial strategy and voice (of the content through the channels).
- Partner with internal stakeholders such as program teams, service teams, IT, campus partners to achieve the Hoover Institution's goals and to ensure coordination.
- Manage constituent complaints and reputational issues and other high priorities on digital channels.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience required. Five to ten years of relevant experience strongly preferred including knowledge of and experience in the field of public policy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the web, technology, social platforms, current and future trends.
- Excellent writing and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated problem solver.
- Ability to leverage current and future trends to help an organization succeed at the initiative level, for a specific group, team or unit.
- Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
- Experience leading highly-functioning teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience and understanding of effective ways for a public policy research center/think tank to use social media to reach target audiences.
- Excellent research and writing skills with an ability to distill complicated policy issues in a way that appeals to social media audiences, as well as injecting evergreen research into current policy debates/news issues.
- Ability to illustrate proven success with growing various social media audiences and increasing engagement.

- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, speaking.
